The Healthy Choice

It comes as no surprise to Seafish UK that fish is now widely recognised as a crucial part of a healthy diet - the company has known this for over 80 years! Today experts in food nutrition widely promote that the inclusion of fish at least twice-weekly in a balanced diet can lead to significant and prolonged health benefits.

A vital part of your diet

Fish is a vital part of any healthy and nutritious diet rich in vitamins and minerals. Fish is also the most easily available source of Omega 3 fatty acids - polyunsaturated fats which help to regulate blood flow, leading to significant decreases in the risk of heart-related problems. The human body cannot produce these fatty acids - they can only be obtained from food.

Vitamins

Fish is a major source of:

  • Vitamin A - benefits include enhancement of vision, promotion of bone growth and regulation of the immune system.
  • Vitamin B - a complex of several vitamins which bolster metabolism, maintain healthy skin and muscle, promote cell growth and combat stress, depression and heart problems.
  • Vitamin D - maintains normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. Recent research suggests vitamin D may aid in cancer prevention and recovery.

Minerals

Mineral levels in fish are higher still. In varying quantities, depending on the type of seafood, calcium, iron, zinc, selenium and iodine can all be found in fish. In fact, fish is the most iodine-rich food source available.
